Position Purpose
The IT Infrastructure Specialist I provides foundational support for EG LNG’s technological infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud services. The role focuses on performing routine operational tasks, executing standard procedures, assisting with system administration, and supporting cybersecurity and compliance tasks under supervision. Job Functions
IT Infrastructure Specialist I
- Network Management
- Assist in the installation and basic configuration of network devices (switches, access points, firewalls).
- Perform routine checks on LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi connectivity and escalate anomalies.
- Support domain and DNS configuration under guidance.
- Servers and Systems Administration
- Assist with server installation and routine configuration tasks.
- Execute standard system updates, patches and backups following established procedures.
- Support the administration of domains and DNS records by performing routine configuration tasks and escalating advanced issues to entire staff as needed.
- Monitor basic system performance and escalate issues to senior staff.
- Storage and Data Management
- Monitor storage utilization using predefined tools and procedures and report issues.
- Assist with backup operations and verify successful task completion.
- Follow data integrity and retention procedures.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Apply basic cybersecurity procedures (password policies, endpoint updates, patching) provided by senior staff.
- Assist with access control and user provisioning activities.
- Participate in security awareness programsand follow incident reporting procedures.
- Cloud & Hybrid Environment Management
- Perform routine tasks in M365 or Azure environments, namely but not limited toaccount checks and license assignments.
- Assist with basic virtual machine maintenance in hybrid systems.
- Monitoring & Optimization
- Use monitoring tools to identify basic system alertsand follow escalation protocols.
- Support infrastructure performance reviews by collecting system data.
- Documentation & Technical Support
- Maintain accurate documentation for assigned tasksand operational procedures.
- Provide Level I infrastructure support and escalate advanced issues promptly.
- Incident Response & Vulnerability Management
- Assist in initial incident triage, documentation, and follow-up.
- Escalate security incidents immediately to senior team members.

- Run scheduled vulnerability scans under supervision.

Education and Experience
Essential:
- EG National with a Diploma (2‑year program minimum) in Networking, Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- No mandatory courses required, However, introductory, or foundational IT certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, MCSA, VMware, Security+, Azure Fundamentals or VMware Fundamentals are advantageous and support career progression.
- No prior experience required. Exposure to IT infrastructure environments, such as internships, academic labs, or personal projects is considered an advantage.
Qualities / Attributes
- Foundational Troubleshooting & Systems Thinking
- Ability to follow structured troubleshooting steps for basic infrastructure issues.
- Recognizes when to escalate problems to senior staff.
- Cabling & Infrastructure
- Able to perform CAT6 terminations and basic fiber handling under supervision.
- Uses standard tools such as crimpers, punch‑down tools, and cable testers for basic diagnostics.
- Network Infrastructure Support
- Understands the purpose and basic operation of switches, wireless controllers, and firewalls.
- Assists with simple configuration tasks and routine network checks
- Server & Storage Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of server hardware, storage concepts (SAN/NAS), and virtualization fundamentals.
- Supports routine server tasks such as monitoring and patching under guidance
- Windows Server & Core Services
- Familiarity with Windows Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies.
- Perform predefined tasks such as creating users or verifying configurations
- Virtualization Concepts
- Awareness of VMware vSphere/vCenter environments, able to view VM status and perform basic actions under supervision.
- Cloud & M365 Administration
- Understands key components of Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint).
- Executes routine tasks such as license checks and basic user administration.
- Cybersecurity Foundations
- Basic understanding of endpoint protection, secure password practices, patching, and common threats.
- Participate in security awareness and apply standard security procedures.

- Understanding of basic principles of hardening access control and encryption standards, and security monitoring tools.

- Use of remote desktop tools such as Windows Remote Desktop Connection Manager or Devolutions for secure server and device administration.
- Network Analysis and Monitoring
- Wireshark for basic packet capture, network traffic inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds or Thousand Eyes to track device health, performance, and connectivity across the infrastructure.
- Cloud Platforms
- -Routine administration of Microsoft 365 portals for user management, groups, devices, email services, Teams collaboration, file management, application deployment, security settings, and audit logging.
- Windows Server Remote Administration Tools
- Ability to use RSAT modules to manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Print Services, Server Manager, and other key components for basic tasks.
- Ticketing and Knowledge Base Systems
- Experience with platforms such as Jira, ServiceNow, or Solution Center for handling support tickets and maintaining technical documentation.
- Virtualization Platforms
- Ability to navigate VMware vSphere and vCenter and perform basic actions (viewing VMs, checking resource usage).
- Backup, Vulnerability & Patch Management Tools
- Use of tools like Acronis Cyber Protect to verify backups, run vulnerability scans, and apply patches, ensuring systems remain fully protected and up to date.
- Ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend Spanish and English (level 4.2)
Physical Requirements / Work Conditions
- Physical work will be performed mostly when there is a need to carry servers and switches during installation or replacement of equipment and when working on terminating cabling. Most of the time, the employee will be working from his desk or in the lab.
- Most work is done in an air-conditioned office and IT rooms environments
