Position Purpose

The Legal Coordinator provides essential operational and administrative support to the Legal Department, ensuring disciplined document control, meeting preparation, and coordination of legal and limited compliance activities. The position supports the Legal team in day-to-day legal operations, policy logistics, and the administration of governance and compliance records.

This role is designed for an organized, proactive professional who understands confidentiality, can manage multiple priorities, and is willing to develop progressively toward greater independence in legal and compliance support work.

Job Functions

Legal Coordinator

A. Legal Administration & Operations

  • Manage department calendars, meeting logistics, and document workflows.
  • Maintain the central legal document repository with appropriate version control and retention tagging.
  • Coordinate execution of standard forms (e.g., NDAs) and routing of documents for signature and filing.
  • Maintain trackers for contracts, correspondence, and key legal actions; prepare summary reports for the Legal Team.
  • Support invoice processing and record-keeping for external legal service providers.
  • Prepare drafts of standard correspondence, internal memos, and meeting minutes for review.

B. Governance & Committee Support (Administrative)

  • Coordinate BICC meeting logistics (scheduling, agendas, material compilation, minute drafts, and action logs).
  • Maintain controlled versions of Legal and Compliance policies, procedures, and communications.

C. Compliance Support (Administrative / Under Supervision)

  • Organize compliance-related training sessions and maintain attendance and certification records.
  • Maintain and update registers (e.g., gifts & hospitality, conflict of interest, due-diligence documentation) under supervision of senior Legal staff.
  • Monitor the compliance mailbox, log incoming items, and route to the General Counsel or designated reviewer; no independent responses permitted.
  • Assist in data collection for internal reviews or shareholder assessments.
  • Support vendor due-diligence documentation requests and record-keeping.
  • Other as necessary (and as development continues to progress)

D. Communication & Confidentiality

  • Ensure high standards of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality in all Legal Department communications.
  • Provide basic English/Spanish translation and formatting support.
  • Promote professional and ethical conduct consistent with EG LNG’s Code of Business Conduct.

E. Other Duties

  • Participate in special projects or process improvements as assigned by the General Counsel.
  • Undertake training and development activities aligned with the role.

Education and Experience

Essential:

  • EG National with a bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of administrative or coordination experience, preferably in a Legal or Compliance environment.

Qualities / Attributes

Technical Skills Required:

  • Legal and Regulatory Documentation – proficient in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate records of contracts, legal correspondence, board resolutions, and compliance filings in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance & Standards – familiarity with national and international regulatory frameworks (OHADA, BEAC Regulations, FCPA, UK Bribery Act, AML Standards) and company compliance systems (vendor due diligence, conflict of interest declarations, local content rules, etc).

Records and Document Control Systems – proficient in using document management tools (e.g., SharePoint, DMS, BoardEffect and the like) to maintain confidentiality and ensure controlled access to legal files.

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions

  • Most work is performed in an air-conditioned office environment. Work consists of unconstrained office work, seated, air-conditioned building.
  • Occasional domestic travel to meet local vendors

  • Standard office equipment and personal computer.
  • Company pool vehicle for work related activities
